Down to
Ohakune we head
“Pinus Contorta”, shake with dread!
Soon TTC and 4TC
Will be pulling them out with Glee!
Lots of mozzies buzzing me
There soon was carnage at
Capri
Newspaper was my choice of weapon
For a peaceful nights ‘sleep-on’
8 a.m. Saturday was the time
To meet Barbara and
TTC
Busy day ahead, weather fine
With Shorty in charge, that’s the key
Camp set up, then out we go
Forwards and backwards cross the mountain
Looking high, looking low
And looking back, always countin’
Day soon over and back to base
For a lovely meal prepared by Eileen
Michael whipped up cheesecake
Too much food, I soon was tiring
On our way to pulling trees
Piggy Packers got stuck in muck
Boys all down on bended knees
Needed a tow from the
DOC truck
Day soon
over
This may be the last
All the hard work done
Both present and past
Friends made, trees pulled
To rid Ruapehu of a pest
Keep your eyes open
DOC, don’t be fooled
For this unwelcome guest!
