2012-12-02 December 2-4 Rangitoto Station

Our last baiting trip to Rangitoto Station, in February 2012 we will collect in any remaining baits until the next programme in September. A merry van load set off on Friday afternoon , stopping as usual at Pirongia for food and sustenance before heading for the winding road that leads from Otorohonga to Rangitoto Station. The weather was good and the views of the river running alongside the road and the steep gullies are so appealling, this time there were many pink spotted foxgloves flowering along the roadside, each time there is something new to see. Saturday was not quite so good and we left early to do our respective tracks, some of us were lucky to be back in the woolshed before the skies opened with a very heavy deluge others not so lucky having longer tracks to bait and were well drenched. A suitable atmosphere was made in the woolshed with a christmas tree and decorations and we enjoyed well earned and much anticipated "afternoon tea" before dressing in our various outfits as Santa and fairies to go down for dinner at the house, our nonsense was well received by other clubs' volunteers and we enjoyed ourselves thoroughly as usual.
